Josephine Harrison Blount, 85, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 9, 2010, with her family by her side. She was born in Hopewell, VA and graduated from Hopewell High School where she lettered in sports. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Thomas R. Blount; sons Rob and his wife Debbie of Petersburg, and Tim and his wife Judy of Raleigh, NC; daughter-in-law Nancy Gorman Blount of Carthage, NC; her grandchildren, Meredith Blount, Paige Blount, and Joshua Blount. Jo is also survived by her sister Mary Harrison Frazier of Hopewell, her brother Robert E. Harrison and wife Gail of Greenville, SC, and sister-in-law Betty Harrison of Hopewell, also numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Doug Blount on April 9, 2001. She was a devoted Christian, wife, and mother who taught her sons and grandchildren the precepts of the faith. Jo was a lifelong member of West End Presbyterian Church- Hopewell (WEPC), where she served the Lord as Sunday school teacher, choir member and president of the Women in the Church. She also taught kindergarten at West End Christian School for many years. The family will receive friends at WEPC, Monday, April 12, from 6-8pm, where services will be conducted Tuesday, April 13, at 11am with interment to follow at the Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the elevator fund at WEPC. Condolences may be registered at: www.nelsencares.com
