Laura Ethel Bishop Payne, 71, went to her heavenly home on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 in Edgewater, FL.
She was born on May 24, 1941 in Jasper, VA to the late Emit and Alice (Jones) Bishop. She was a very loving mother, sister and friend.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Girstle Bishop & Gaynes Bishop and two sisters, Hazel Edens & Elizabeth Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Edward Payne, of the home; two children, Edward Payne Jr. of Laurel MD, and Jeff Payne of Tampa FL; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Billy Bishop of Highland, MD, Edward Bishop of Mt. Airy, MD, and Bobby Bishop of Big Stone Gap, VA; two sisters, Della Frazier of Middletown, OH, Patsy Hostler of South Daytona, FL; and also survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2012) at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap, VA.
The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Wayne Thomas officiating.
Committal services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Bishop Family Cemetery in Jasper, VA. The family and friends will meet at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
