AMBURN, Lee Roy, Sr., 94, of Ashland, departed this life March 8, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Elaine Merchant Amburn. He is survived by his two children, Cara Wallo (Mike) and Lee Roy Amburn, Jr. (Suzy) and two of his five sisters, Edna Cameron and Mary McKenzie. He is also survived by three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Roy owned and ran a sawmill, was an avid dog trainer and bird hunter and enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. He and his family are grateful to and very fond of all the special caregivers who watched over him. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA where services will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Signal Hill Memorial Park.
