Gatewood, Leonard W. "PeeWee", 69, of Ashland, passed away on July 9, 2012. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Gatewood and his parents, Pearl and Samuel Gatewood. He is survived by his son, William Scott Gatewood; sister, Alyene Clark and husband Don; numerous extended loving family members; and devoted friends, Marvin and Lois Overby, Marie Johnson, Bill and Jackie Stanley. He retired after 50 years of service with the Ashland Shell. PeeWee attended the Ashland Church of God and was an avid fan of NASCAR. He was an Army veteran, serving with the Combat Engineers in Vietnam. The family will receive friends from 2-4PM and 6-8PM on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Wash. Hwy., Ashland, VA. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Signal Hill Memorial Park at 2PM.
