Leonora Salembiene Hewitt

This strong, independent woman was such a joy. She was a patient of mind for years and I was always amazed at her young mind thoughts.I miss her.

Much like Monroe, my first encounter with Leonora was on a cold blustery day in NC. I noticed a little white haired lady standing by my mailbox looking at the construction of a house down the street. I figured she was going to be my new neighbor. I invited her in for a cup of tea, but she refused. A few weeks later (2 weeks before she was to close on her house) I found out that she had fallen

Much like Monroe, my first encounter with Leonora was on a cold blustery day in NC. I noticed a little white haired lady standing by my mailbox looking at the construction of a house down the street. I figured she was going to be my new neighbor. I invited her in for a cup of tea, but she refused. A few weeks later (2 weeks before she was to close on her house) I found out that she had fallen at a nearby shopping center and broken her hip. Figuring she would need help unpacking boxes I showed up when the moving van arrived and offered my services to her. This time she took me up on my offer and we were friends from that day on. I always joked with her that I had "foisted" my friendship upon her whether she wanted it or not!

I was sad when she decided to move back to VA, but our friendship continued despite the geographical distance. I believe in the course of my visits to her that I managed to meet most of her dearest friends. My life has been blessed in many ways because of our friendship.

I am so sorry that missed the Memorial Service at Maryline's. I'm sure there were many stories of the fun things we all had with Leonora. She will always have a place in my heart.

The first time I meet Mrs. Hewitt, I had just moved in across the street from her on Albertson Ct. and it had snowed about 4 inches. That morning I looked out my front window to see this {elderly white headed woman} cleaning off her sidewalk, I grabbed my shovel and ran over to lend a hand "she informed me that she was from New York and this was just a heavy frost" we became the best of friends, and

Mrs Hewitt got a Mothers Day card from me every year. I will miss her greatly!
