Lester Samuels, 81 of Port Royal, Virginia died March 28, 2012. Known to his closest friends as "Bai", he was the son of Kaiphas and Catherine Samuels and was born July 1, 1930 in Point Hill, Jamaica. He attended and graduated Point Hill All Age School. Later he moved to Lemon Ridge, Jamaica where he met his life long sweetheart, Myrtle. Lester affectionately referred to Myrtle as "Murr", and together Bai and Murr had eight children: Ronald; Patricia; Linval; Carlton; Andrea; Ever; Junior; and Morris. In order to feed so many hungry mouths, he joined his father-in-law, James on the family farm where he learned to grow a variety of hearty fruits and vegetables the "old fashion way" – without pesticides or any artificial enrichment. A few years later, motivated by ambition and a desire to stand on his own, Lester built a home and continued farming as his chosen profession.

Lester was an avid domino player and a regular patron of Chin Loy's Shop at Red Ground (the local tavern) where he would take on all challengers. Lester and his beloved Myrtle later moved to the United States to live with their daughter Andrea and her husband, Kenneth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother (Barry) and two of his sons (Carlton and Ever). He leaves to mourn his wife (Myrtle), sons (Ronald, Linval, Junior and Morris), daughters (Patricia and Andrea), sons-in-law (Eddie and Kenneth), brother-in-law (Sam), sisters-in-law (Carmen, Lucy and Enid), eleven (11) grandchildren, fifteen (15) great-grandchildred and one (1) great, great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held Saturday April 14, 2012 at 11:30 am in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, thirty minutes prior to the service. Sign register book online at www.storkefuneralhome.com.
