Bannister, Luke O., Sr., 77, of Highland Springs, passed away on June 3, 2012. He is survived by sons, Luke O. Bannister, Jr. (Candy) and Charles T. Bannister; daughter, Shirlene B. Ratliff (William); sisters, Kathleen Bannister and Judy Kostyniuk (Stefan) and brother, Martin Bannister; grandchildren, Katie, Curtis, Austin "WD" and Patrick T. Bannister and wife (Emily), Zachary and Brianna Ratliff; great granddaughter, Leigh Ann Bannister; aunt, Mary Bannister Douglas; devoted companion, Gaynell Taylor and devoted friends, Terri Davis, Bobby and Jean Gary and Barbara Patterson.

Luke was a lifetime member of Plumbers and Steamfitters L. U. 10. He enjoyed going to Atlantic City with family and friends and was an avid rabbit hunter, golfer and train and country music enthusiast.

Family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home located at 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 5 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be announced at a later date at Washington Memorial Park.
