Lynda S. Kreuser, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Saturday, June 16, 2012 at her home. She was 60.
Daughter of Phyllis Guglielmini Broderick of New Jersey and the late David Broderick, she was born March 19, 1952 in Staten Island. Lynda attended the High School of Art and Design in New York City and graduated from New Dorp High School. She went on to attend Staten Island Community College and Dutchess Community College.
She married Kenneth R. Kreuser on March 24, 1977 in Wappingers Falls. Mr. Kreuser survives at home.
Lynda worked at Willowbrook State School in Staten Island. She also worked as a Legal Secretary in New York City and later in Poughkeepsie for several law firms. She went on to own and operate a Curves franchise in Poughkeepsie where many of her customers became close friends.
Lynda was active in PTA especially at Sheafe Road Elementary School and helped with Girl Scouts as her children were growing up. She loved to dance and studied and worked at Ballet Arts Studio in Beacon. She was fond of New York Theater and organized many group trips to Broadway. Lynda also enjoyed her time with her Tuesday Craft Group. After her family, her great passion was pottery. She enjoyed studying and creating with Polly Myhrum in her studio in New Hamburg.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by her children, Ryan Kreuser and his partner, Katherine Happel of Poughkeepsie and Elyse Kreuser of Wappingers Falls; her sister, Donna Skala of Pennsylvania; her nephew, Dean Skala; her beloved grand-dog, Otto as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her step father, she was predeceased by her father, Chester Smith
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, June 21 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 21 at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or American Cancer Society, Memorial Processing Center, 6725 Lyons Street, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
