Mabel A. Miller Obituary


Mabel A. Miller, age 98 of Starbuck, formerly of Sauk Centre, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 13 at River of Life Church in Sauk Centre with Pastor Kyle Peterson and her nephew, Rev. Donald Upton, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mabel Miller was born on the family farm between Horton and Plainfield, Iowa on November 22, 1911 in Polk Township, Bremer County, Iowa, the second child of George and Regina (Craine) Miller. In 1914, when she was three years old, the family moved to Sauk Centre. She had been employed as a nurse's aide at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre for 28 years, retiring in 1976. In recent years she had resided at Getty Street Assisted Living in Sauk Centre and for the past 2 1/2 years she had resided at Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.

She was a long time member of the Assembly of God Church in Sauk Centre, now known as the River of Life Church. Mabel enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and embroidery and very much enjoyed her weekly bible study.

Survivors include three nephews, Donald (Linda) Upton of Springfield, Missouri, Myron (Carolyn) Upton of Peoria, Arizona, and Kenneth Miller of Alexandria; four nieces, LaVonne (James) Dickinson of Starbuck, Muriel Karrow of Alexandria, Lois (Lyle) Anderson of Cyrus, and Judy Buska of Isanti.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert and Leo Miller; sisters, Carol Upton and Ila Carlson.
