Malcolm Leroy Bright (Mac), 76, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012. He was a native of Pasquontank Co., NC, a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Smithfield, VA, a Past Master and former Treasurer of Portsmouth #100 Masonic Lodge. Mac was an Air Force Veteran and retired as a supervisor at SUP-SHIP. Mac was the son of the late Ruby and James P. Bright; he was also predceded in death by his sister, Nancy S. Barnes of FL and brother-in-law, William F. Donovan. Mac is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Jacqueline Rose Bright of Smithfield, VA; their son, Robert J. Hasty Jr. and his fiancé, Debbie Wood of Smithfield; grandchildren, Christopher J. Hasty of Smithfield, VA, Brittany L. Hasty of Hampton, Ashley N. Dupuis and Roberta J. Baker both of Portsmouth; great-grandchildren, Celeste Hasty, Ayanna Powell, Harleigh Dupius, and Naomi Baker; sister, Joyce Ann Donovan of Portsmouth; brothers, William K. Bright and wife, Joan of Chesapeake, L. Wayne Bright and wife, Linda of Virginia Beach, James C. Bright and wife, Carolyn of Chesapeake, Warren L. Bright and wife, Darlene of Portsmouth, and Andrew L. Bright and wife, Maryann of Indiana; many nieces, nephews and other devoted family members and friends. A funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Smithfield, VA at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday by Pastor, Dan E. Gray. The interment will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends in the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association.
