On Tuesday, December 18, 2012, Margaret Northrop Morris, 96, passed away peacefully in Williamsburg, VA.

Margaret was born on November 4, 1916, in Alexandria, VA, the daughter of the late Daisy Beach Northrop and William Lucius Northrop, and great-granddaughter of General Lucius Bellinger Northrop, commissary general of the Confederate Army. Margaret was the wife of Frank Albert Morris, Jr., who passed away on Dec. 31, 1973. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lela Northrop Williams and Willie D'Oyly Coogan. She is survived by her daughter, Judythe Morris Niles and husband, Thomas Russell Niles II; grandson, Thomas Russell Niles, III and wife, Elizabeth McNamara Niles; great-grandchildren, Allison Blake Niles and Jack Thomas Niles, all of Williamsburg; two nieces, Priscilla Williams Jennings of Charleston, SC; and Marjorie Williams Gewirz of Barnard, VT; and one nephew, John Northrop Williams of Concord, NC.

Margaret dearly loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 3:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg. Interment will be on December 28, 2012 at 12:30 pm. at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, VA.
