Maria "Rosie" Homka (nee DiSilverio), 85, of Sewell, died peacefully on March 29, 2011.

Legacy

Maria "Rosie" Homka was born in Teramo Italy in 1925. She grew up in Italy dreaming about bigger and better things. In early 1950, she married her first husband the late Giuseppe Ricciardi. They had two children together, Julie and Joseph. Several years after Giuseppe's death, she met and married her second husband, the late Walter Homka. Rosie worked as a seamstress while her children were young and always had an interest in real estate. Rosie was a generous and loving mother who worked hard to save every penny in order to provide education opportunities for her children and her grandchildren. Rosie and Walter owned and operated the Surfside Apartments in Wildwood NJ during their summer months together. She was a generous woman of simple means who deprived herself to provide for her family. She was totally devoted to her family and she set new standards for her role as matriarch. Rosie loved to play cards, walk in the sun and cook for her family. Rosie would go shopping with the senior citizens when she was able to. Rosie enjoyed gardening and growing her own vegetables. Her favorite color was red, and she loved to collect swans and cameos. Rosie lived in Washington Township with her daughter Julie and her son-in -law Bill.

Devoted mother of Julie and Joseph; Loving grandmother to Steven, Marc, Gina, Chris and Joseph; Adoring Great Grandmother to Giada Rose, Jade and Seven; Loving mother-in-law to Bill and Kim who she loved like her own children.

Farewell Service

Committal Service Friday 10:30AM at the Philadelphia Crematories, Inc., 7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136.
