Marion "Bob" Hopkins, 86, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Kingston at Dupont. Born in Peru, Bob was a WWII Army Veteran. Bob earned his BS in Education from Manchester College and his Master's in Education from Indiana University. He was a Band and Orchestra Teacher for 35 years retiring from Lane Middle School in 1986. He was a member Indiana Teachers Association, Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren, and recently had been attending Blackhawk Ministries. Bob enjoyed radio controlled airplanes, helicopters, fishing, and woodworking. Surviving are his sons, Terry (Rhea) Hopkins of Spencerville, Ted (Brian David) Hopkins of New York City, NY, daughter, Tammy (Doug) Crane of Fort Wayne, grandchildren, Tracie (Ron), Sara, Amy, Alyssa, and Austin, great grandchildren, Zachary, Jayden, and Avery, brother, Ray (Carolyn) Hopkins of Peru, sisters, Lucille (Marvin) Shepler of Logansport, Joyce (Jim) Cardwell of Peru, and Sandy (Jim) Surface of Walton. Marion was preceded in death by parents, Marion and Mildred Hopkins Sr., wife, Phyllis Hopkins, and sister, Betty Flora. Service is 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at D.O. McComb and Son's Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling one hour prior, Rev. Kelly Byrd, officiating. Calling at the Funeral Home, Friday, January 18, 2013 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
