Garner, Martha Elizabeth, 87, of Montpelier, VA, formally of Durham and Reidsville, NC, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert E. Garner; three sons, Randall (Linda), Barry (Laura) and Darryl (Nancy) Garner; a daughter, Janet Smith (Gary); four sisters, Mary, Thelma, Laura and Linda; one brother, John; also, six grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Mrs. Garner was employed at General Telephone and American Tobacco Co. in Durham, NC. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA, where services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013. Interment will be private in North Carolina.
