Luck, Mary Frances Matthews, died on her 98th birthday, March 29, 2012, after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ferrell Luck, Sr. She is survived by two sons and a daughter, James Ferrell Luck, Jr., and his wife, Susan, Edward Jackson Luck and his wife, Shearer, and Barbara Ross Luck; six grandchildren, Ross Luck, Andrew Luck, Mary Christine Luck, Kemp Reardon, Sallie Luck, and Ann Ferrell Millham; and 12 great grandchildren. Mary Frances was born in Lawrenceville, Virginia but since her 1934 marriage, had lived in Ashland, Virginia. For many years, she knitted, crocheted, and assembled lap blankets and children's sweaters for the American Red Cross and World Vision. She was a long time member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Ashland, where a memorial service followed by a reception will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private in Woodland Cemetery.
