Mary Jo “Jodie” Leavitt, 51, of Goochland, VA, formerly of Hopewell, VA, passed away on 6 June 2011 from a brief illness at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Dorothy P. Leavitt of Hopewell, VA.
Jodie was retired from DuPont Spruance Plant in Richmond, VA. Jodie served in the Air Force for 4 years and was stationed at Seymour Air Force Base, NC. Jodie enjoyed her time with her daughters and grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Ashley Morrow Edgington (Daniel) from Lancaster, Kentucky and Stephanie Morrow Correll (J.L.) from Fort Walton Beach, Florida., Granddaughters Kenlea Edgington and Kamrie Correll, Sisters, Roxanne Leavitt, from Charles City, VA, Brenda Leavitt Stephens (Charles), from Goochland, VA and her brother, John “Buddy” Leavitt, from Vicenza, Italy. She also leaves behind her Aunts, Alice Price Murray, from Pascagoula, MS and Susan Price Johnson, from Hattiesburg, MS; she leaves behind four nephews, and numerous cousins from around the country.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell, VA and where funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am, Friday, June 10, 2011. Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
