Mary Margaret Pelechic, 82, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born July 16, 1929, in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Jane Rooney McCartney.
At age 16, Mary moved to Tulsa, OK with her family and graduated from Holy Family Catholic High School. Mary met and married her husband, George in 1953; and was a domestic engineer by trade.
Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, George Pelechic, Jr. Mary is survived by her daughters, Mary Ellen Tompkins, Jane Pelechic-Hudak and husband, Brian Hudak; Patricia A. Huff and husband, Michael Huff; granddaughter, Melissa Bolinger, seven grandsons: Mark Tompkins and wife, Lauren; Michael and Matthew Tompkins; Jordan and Jonathan Smith; Kevin and Kyle Harris; and two great-grandchildren, Seamus and Gemma Tompkins.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and enjoyed life to its fullest. Mary will be remembered for her beautiful smile, sweet laugh and great sense of humor.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 17 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg. A mass of the Christian burial will be offered on Monday, June 18 at 9 AM at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg, with interment to be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa, OK. Memorial donations may be made in Mary's name to Heartland Hospice, 11735 Fishing Point Dr, Newport News, VA 23606. Online condolences may be expressed at www.nelsencares.com.
