Mary Virginia Browder, 79, of Petersburg went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday morning, April 21, 2010 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Having spent her entire life unable to walk, she is now joyously walking the streets of Heaven. Mary, the beloved only child of Tommy and Nora Browder, was born September 22, 1930. In spite of her physical limitations Mary graduated from Petersburg High School in 1956 and with the love and support of her parents and extended family, she lived over 60 happy years beyond the expectations of her doctors. Mary’s life was an example of selflessness, faith and trust in the Lord to meet her every need. Mary was predeceased by her parents and is survived by two aunts, Frances Treaster of Hopewell, VA, Alice Walker of Woodbridge, VA and a number of cousins. She was a resident of the Golden Living Convalescent Center for a number of years prior to her passing. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Golden Living for their care of her and the nurses and doctors of the Intensive Care Unit at Southside Regional Medical Center for their compassion and care during her short stay there. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary’s life on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Hopewell VA. There will be a time of visitation from 11:00 AM-12:00 noon, followed by a memorial service to be conducted by Rev. Glenn Browder at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place at Southlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Petersburg, VA.
