JOHNSON, Meron Cecil, 67, of Doswell, VA, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 1, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Joan Albis Johnson; children, Richard A. Houghton (Karen), Elizabeth A. Goddard, Cheryl J. Adkins, Tonya L. Johnson, R. Shane Johnson (Pamela), Holley M. Johnson and M. Sean Johnson (Melissa) and "adopted" children, Brett and Tara; 10 grandchildren, Todd, Matt, Melissa, Kyle, Caitlyn, Colby, Victoria, Nicholas, Noah, Caleb, Tyler and Jade; and two great-grandchildren, Hope and Hudson; two brothers, R. Jack Johnson (Carol), of Doswell and Hershel Johnson (Karen), of Duffield; one sister, Merline Neumann (Jack), of Dayton, Ohio; and one sister-in-law, Carol Johnson, of Vermont and a host of other relatives and friends. Cecil was an avid Redskins fan and spent many days on his "beloved" porch watching them play with his friends. He loved raising his vegetable garden every year. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, having cookouts and just being together. He also loved scratching lotto tickets. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his good friends, Carl and Donald. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy. Ashland, VA from 6 to 8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 5 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in his name may be made to The American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060.
