WILLIAMSBURG – Nancy Jill Norton, 66, resident of Williamsburg for 35 years, died at home on November 8, 2012. She was born in Worcester, MA on January 16, 1946 to the late Bennett Kellam and Gail Livermore. In Wetumpka, AL, she leaves her son, Paul Norton and wife, Heather and grandsons, Zachery and Luke Norton. In Charlotte, NC, she leaves her daughter, Jill McCarn and husband, Dennis and her granddaughters, Sarah and Abigail. Also from Charlotte, she leaves her sister, Martha Caddell and her nephews, Mark and Matthew Caddell and their families. In Hawaii, she leaves behind her half-sister, Kendall Sharpless. She was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Kellam of Auburn, MA. His wife, Jeanne Burdette, and their son, Brian Kellam and his wife reside there. In Williamsburg, she leaves behind Judy Jones as well as many devoted friends and colleagues.

Nancy was a graduate of David Prouty High School in Spencer, MA as well as The Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester, MA. She worked for many years as a school nurse, in both York and Williamsburg/James City County Schools, ending her career at Matthew Whaley School. After she retired, Nancy became a Virginia Master Naturalist, always advocating for the environment.

Nancy loved bird-watching, traveling, fishing, and was known for her collection of flamingoes. She was blessed throughout her life with deep and lasting friendships. She received so much from those whom she loved and, in return, gave so much back to everyone.

A reception to celebrate Nancy's life will be held on Saturday, November 10 from 4-6 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg. Please join us for a casual, colorful celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nancy Norton Nature Camp Scholarship Fund.
