Patricia Harfst, age 70, passed away on December 8, 2012 after a long battle with lung and bone cancer. She was born in a Brooklyn, NY hospital on March 13, 1942 and lived in Staten Island, NY until age 11 when her family moved to Westchester County, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anne and John A. Reynaud, and by her daughter, Kathleen Anne Gasparini.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Eric S. Harfst; sons, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Richard A. Harfst and his wife, Jennifer; Eric S. Harfst, Jr. and his wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Kevin Gasparini ; Jennifer, Colin, and Zachary Harfst; Bryan Harfst; and one great-grandchild, Bridget Adele Harfst. Also surviving are her sister, Nan Reynaud; brother, John B. Reynaud; nephews, John C. Reynaud and his wife, Rebecca; and Eugene Reynaud; niece Patricia Damore and her husband, Michael; as well as many other beloved family members and friends.

Patricia worked as an Executive Assistant at Ingersoll-Rand Company for twenty-seven years. Since 1989 she was a member of the Seraphic Society and served on their Board of Governors. Over the years she was active in volunteer work for the March of Dimes, was a MS Society Volunteer of the Year and served on the Board of Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Bergen-Passaic Counties in New Jersey.

The family wishes to extend its sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Linda Jones, Latita Thornton and JoAnne Robinson from Hope In-Home Care and Anne McDaniel, RN, from Heartland Hospice for their tender and loving care of Patricia over the past several months. Sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks are also extended to the employees and volunteers of Hospice House, especially Nancy Carswell, where Patricia spent her final weeks.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12 from 10:30 AM until the memorial service begins at Noon at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg. Light refreshments will follow the service at the Harfst's home, 133 Mid Ocean, Williamsburg. Interment will be on Friday, December 14 at 11 AM at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, NY.
