STEGLE: Peter J. Stegle, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, formerly of Ruther Glen, VA, and originally from Baldwin, NY, widow of Joyce H. Stegle, died suddenly April 24, 2012.
Born April 15, 1928in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Peter and Francis Stegle. He retired from AT &T in 1989 after a lifelong career with the company. He served with distinction for many years with the 242nd Signal Battalion of the NY Army National Guard, achieving the rank of Sergeant Major.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Stegle. He will be sadly missed by his sons, Matthew Richard Stegle (Cindy) of Frederick, MD and Douglas Charles Stegle of Woodbridge, VA; his daughters, Laurene Cunningham (Robert) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Laurele Barton (Howard) of East Northport, NY; his grandchildren, Suzann, Tracy, Kurt, and Victoria.
A visitation will be held at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green Friday from 6:00-8:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:30 conducted by his fellow members of the Knights of Columbus. A funeral Mass will be Saturday April 28, 2012 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Ladysmith, with burial to follow in Lakewood Cemetery, Bowling Green.
