SOUTH HADLEY: Robert McIntosh Horne, 83, of South Hadley, passed away on Wednesday January 23, 2013 at Holyoke Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late William and Mary (Cruickshank) Horne and was educated in the Holyoke schools. Bob was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, serving as a radioman aboard the USS Dayton and the USS Joseph P. Kennedy. He was a longtime employee of Technifax, Rexam and James River Graphics, retiring in 1992. An avid fisherman and golfer, he belonged to Holyoke Country Club. A dedicated family man, Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was the loving husband of 57 years to Joyce (Keith) Horne, loving father of William Horne and his wife Donna, Mary Corwin and her husband Scott, and Joanne Marinello and her husband Dino. Bob was the adoring grandfather and great-grandfather of Alexandra Manzo and her husband Sandro, Emma Bushey and her husband Jordan, Tessa Marinello, Christian, Eric, and Molly Horne, Hannah and Emily Corwin, Jude and Rowen Bushey; beloved brother of Eileen Halkyard of South Hadley and Mary Sadler of Hamden CT. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: James Horne and Leonard "Laddie" Horne. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 2:00 to 4:15 p.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke followed by a funeral home service at 4:15. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn., 20 Speen Street, Framingham MA 01701-4688.
