Mr. Russell B. Jones, 90, of 2117 Warren Street, Petersburg, Va., born on October 11, 1921, departed this life on Saturday morning, August 11, 2012, at Southside Regional Medical Center of Petersburg.
He was raised as a Catholic from an early age. He received his high school diploma from St. Emma Catholic School and completed two years at Virginia State College. He was a Veteran of World War II and retired from Fort Lee US Army Medical Supply Department of 39 years.
He was preceded in death by adopted mother, Beatrice Zaudie and two step-daughters, Rosa Lee Coleman and Carleen Delores Goode.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife for over 50+ years, Mary E. Jones of Petersburg, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Roslyn Batts (Sam) of Petersburg, Va. and a son Ronea Jones (Deborah) of Ettrick, Va.; 10 grandchildren: Tanya Jones of Maryland, Rion Jones (Naygil) of Chester, Va., Chris Adu (John) of Petersburg, Va., Brandon Batts of Petersburg, Va., Kelvin Coleman (Tracey) of Maryland, Keith Coleman (Karen) of Pennsylvania, Felecia Manson (Andre') of Colonial Heights, Va., Cynthia Goode of Ettrick, Va., Teresa Mason (Henry) of Ettrick, Va., and Collie R. Goode Jr. of Chesterfield, Va.; 22 great-grandchildren: Jennifer Dethea, Jessica Dethea, Justin Dethea, Jasmine Dethea, John Dethea, Chris Jones, Dominique Jones, Tatianna Jones, Carissa Manson, Camille Manson, Jasmine Goode, William H. Goode III, JaVonte Goode, Keyera Mason, Breona Mason, Kyron Goode, Essence Goode, Khalil Goode, Jason Williams, Calia Goode, Kelsey Coleman, Kendall Coleman and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at 2117 Warren St., Petersburg.
