After battling multiple illnesses for many years, Sam's suffering ended on Friday, December 7, 2012. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Florence Trapani Siebert. He leaves to cherish his memory his best friend and loving wife of 40 years, Ann; his treasured daughter, Samantha Ann Lewton and her husband, Ryan; and his beloved sons, Chris Trapani, Sean Trapani and his wife, Teresa, Sam Trapani Jr. and his wife, Joy, and Stephen Trapani and his wife, Melissa. His loving grandchildren will miss their GG. They were his greatest joy.
Sam will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. His life was centered around his family. He was an eternal optimist and was active in countless local charities. He served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division, the "Screaming Eagles." His favorite place to be was on the beach with a fishing rod in his hands and his family by his side.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 12 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church on Thursday, December 13 at 2:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 612 Jamestown Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23185. Online condolences may be offered at www.nelsencares.com.
