Somewhere in a little corner of heaven there is a place where Masters of Chess sit in splendor and await all challengers. Someday I hope to be sitting across from my Uncle Tom and we will once again engage in a game of chess. My guess is that he will still be undefeated when we play, and I will likely continue to lose to him but relish the chance to sit across from him one more time....God Bless until we meet again

I know when my Dad died, it was incredibly difficult, even though we knew it was going to happen due to cancer progression. It doesn't matter whether you are prepared or not. It is still tough. Just let them out. Who cares what anyone thinks. Your Dad was incredibly special and loved by you. It is a bond that goes way beyond the rational, very deep into your soul, and ventures into the unexpected.

We would like to share a devotion we read several years ago, "Hope in the Darkness Luke 21:36." Only days after telling the disciples to pray that they might escape persecution, Jesus himself asked God to spare him the agonies of the cross, if that was God's will. It is abnormal to want to suffer, but as Jesus' followers we are willing to suffer if by doing so we can help build God's kingdom. We have two wonderful promises to help us as we suffer - God will always be with us (Matthew 28:20), and he will one day rescue us and give us eternal life (Revelation 21:1-4)."

We know Tom's suffering was not in vain and has touched many. And we also know that Tom is suffering no more in his eternal home with our blessed Lord Jesus Christ awaiting his faithful and devoted wife.
