Vernon P. Slusser, Sr., 91, of Brodnax passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in the W.S. Hundley Annex, South Hill, VA. Mr. Slusser was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Margaret Slusser and was a mechanic with Broadway Garage for thirty five years. He is survived by his son, Vernon P. Slusser, Jr. and his wife, Billie, a daughter, Mae S. Griffin and her husband, Curtis, three grandchildren, D. Keith Griffin, Patricia Diane Hayden and Rose Mary Bindschatal, five great grandchildren, Jessica Griffin, David Hayden, Jr., Michael Hayden, April Denison and Christopher Francis, a brother, Hurldy Mac Slusser and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 1:00 pm Friday, January 14, 2011 in the Appomattox Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Nelsen Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell, VA.
