Virginia Bridgers Fitz, God's trusted and faithful servant born in Durham, North Carolina, January 5, 1930, left this earth for her reward in heaven on Saturday, July 21, 2012 after losing her battle with lung cancer. Her bold faith, quick wit, and strong character will leave a lasting mark on everyone who came in contact with her. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William J. Bridgers. She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Claude ("CS") Fitz; two daughters, Lou Ann Fincher (Tommy) and Christi Stover (Dean); four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her step-children, Rebecca Pilley (Floyd), Terrie Jones (Gary) and Gene Fitz (Dee Ann). Mrs. Fitz was a retired employee of D.M.V. and a longtime member of Corinth United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231. A service will be held Monday, July 23, 2012 at Corinth United Methodist Church, 23 West Williamsburg Road, Sandston, VA 23150 at 12PM, followed by a reception. Interment will be at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Henrico Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 911, Sandston, VA 23150.
