Tonight I was on facebook with Kathy Bortz Hancock and in talking about Ladysmith school and friends, I mentioned you and she told me that your father had died. I did not know. With both my parent's gone and my sister busy, I never hear anything about that area.

With both my parent's gone and my sister busy, I never hear anything about that area.
I am so sorry for your loss. I know no matter how old our parents are and with their health issues, even being prepared for their passing, it still is hard. I still miss my mom and dad and think of them often. I always liked your dad a lot. He was a funny guy and so nice to me. I know that my dad had a lot of respect for Walter. They knew each other a long time, in the Fire Dept and in Ladysmith community and in many ways. I pray that you have comfort in knowing the many years you had with him.
I tried to send you a note a few years ago when my mom passed away and your mom told me that Morris had a heart issue. But the note came back to me. So I don't know your address. I hope you get this and you can e-mail me. I have looked for you on facebook also. If you are on facebook, look for me. I am just listed as Denise Wendle. My prayers will be with you and your mother. I enjoyed working with Walter for my 10 year stint in Caroline. If you remember you took us in for a week or so after the place we rented had the furnace blow up when we first came to the county. Walter and Jerry helped us unload our belongings at the office and then helped us move them when we found another place to live. He was very intelligent, practical and skilled in all aspects of his job. I also

Winnie and Wilma, words cannot express the sorrow and loss we feel when we lose the Rock of our lives that has been there for us forever but let us be joyfull that he is reveling in the Glory of God with those we have sent before. Dear Wilma and Winnie,

I know that Harold signed for us but, I wanted to add my personal experience of a special kindness that Walter showed me. When Harold was promoted and transferred to Abingdon the children and I remained in Bowling Green for several weeks and Walter came by the house often to make sure the children and I were alright. I will always be thankful for that kindness. We miss all our friends in Caroline Co and are so thankful your family has been a part of our lives. Gods Blessing to you and the family. Ethel

I was so sorry to hear that Walter is gone!!!!
My first memory of meeting Walter was when he and Freddie Hall and Marshall Shaddock were playing country music in the Caroline Co. area. Walter was involved in all the Fire Dept. and Rescue operations in addition to his full time job. We became picking partners for a few years then luckily for me he wanted to work for the Division of Forestry. Harvery Gouldin had just resigned to get into a business venture. Yes, I was really lucky that Walter wanted the job because he became an excellent partner for our efforts to promote good forestry practices and prevent forest fires and extinguish same if needed. He soon became one of the best Chief Forest Wardens in the State and later was promoted to Technician. He was held in high esteem by all in the Dept of Foretry. I'll always remember our good times as friends and working together in Caroling Co.

I will always remember Walter's kindness and patience. He was a mentor to me at the beining of my forestry career. At the time (1971) I was working out of the Tappahannock office and spent considerable time in Caroline. I will forevever keep his memory in my heart. God Bless, Bruce C. Frizzell

I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Hart at an REC retirees luncheon and then met her wonderful granddaughter, Jocelyn when she became my co-worker. Mr. Hart certainly was surrounded by kind, lovely women. I know it is difficult that he is gone, but Jocelyn assures me he is in a better place.
