William Claiborne "Sonny" Ancarrow, Jr., 87, of Frog Level in Caroline County, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at this home surrounded by his family.
Born in Frog Level, he was a World War II Army-Air Force veteran and had retired from Haley Excelsior. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maegan Quillen Ancarrow in 1994 and a devoted friend, Dorothy Chenault.
He is survived by three sons, William C. Ancarrow, III and his wife (a devoted daughter-in-law), Theresa of Caroline, Paul Ancarrow and his wife, Renee of King William and Aaron Ancarrow and his wife, Jennifer of Hanover; two sisters, Emily Brauer of Chesterfield and Alice Woodall and her husband, Frank of Richmond; and three grandchildren, Megan, Brandon, and Jacob Ancarrow; and Doris Shelley, a lifelong,faithful friend and cousin. The family would also like to thank the McQuire VA Medical Center, Alzheimers Association, Home Instead Senior Care and friends and family.
A memorial service will be held 2 PM Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, 21075 Frog Level Road, Ruther Glen, VA. 22546.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Vernon UMC Cemetery Fund, c/o Donna Trout, 20553 Point Eastern Drive, Ruther Glen, VA. 22546.
